Emily: Alright, alright. But you know what, why should my delusion stop with you? Maybe the whole world is a figment of my imagination. How could you tell?
Dee: That's just stupid! I'm going to stop arguing with you if you're going to be like that.
Emily: It's not stupid! I'm sure you must have come across that theory before in your reading!
Dee: Well, yeah, briefly, but it's still... OK, it's not stupid, it's a perfectly reasonable theory, but it's pretty impossible to disprove and it doesn't affect anything you do anyway, so it seems a waste of time thinking about it.
Emily: You could say that about a lot of philosophy.
Dee: That's not true. Questions of morality and if you have a purpose or not and the best way to go about politics make a lot of difference to how people live their lives. Whether or not the world is real, though... I'm not sure why that should make a difference. As far as I can see, it would only matter if you didn't think life was worth living if it wasn't real, or something.
