Dee: There are so many reasons why going back is a terrible, terrible idea.
Emily: If you dislike it so much, why would you do it?
Dee: Because you’re probably dead and I miss you. And I’m stupid.
Emily: You can always come and talk to me, you know. If you’re lonely.
Dee: No, I can’t.
Emily: Yes, you can. This is me giving you permission. It’s fine. It’s not creepy. You can.
Dee: No. Have you given even a second’s thought to what you’re offering?
Emily: …
(A crowd of innumerable Dees appears behind him while he speaks, startling Emily.)
Dee: My time is infinite, Emily. Yours is very much not. I could be here for every second of your life, a million times over. I could take every moment of companionship you can give me and still want more.
(The crowd of Dees vanishes again.)
Dee: But it wouldn’t be fair. I couldn’t use you like that…
