SO LIFE WENT ON.
(Panel of them playing a multiplayer game, both pressing keys on the same laptop.)
Emily:
Aah! I’m surrounded!
Dee: Ooh! I’ve got grenades!
(Panel of Dee lurking behind Emily's family while they all watch something on the TV together.)
MY SCHOOL EVENTUALLY REALIZED I HAD SOME KIND OF ‘IMAGINARY FRIEND’, AND ALL MY EFFORTS TOWARDS NOT LOOKING LIKE A FREAK WERE MEANINGLESS.
Random kid: Hey Emily! Should I save a seat for your imaginary friend?
Rando's friend: Ha ha!
Some other kid: Snrk.
Emily: If you like.
Another time; some kid yelling after Emily as she gets off the bus: Walking home alone again? Oh wait!
Emily: Ha. They’re so oblivious.
(She high fives Dee.)
I FOUND I NO LONGER CARED. NEITHER THEY NOR THEIR OPINIONS MATTERED TO ME – AND IN ANY CASE, THE TRUTH WAS STRANGER.
