Norse Mythology
The Valkyries were warrior maidens who went into battle, selecting warriors who, when fallen, they would escort to either Valhalla to dine with Odin or to Freyja’s field Folkvangr.
They carried weapons, and often a drinking horn to offer to the fallen warriors.
