Chapter: Chapter 58

Markus: D'y'think you'll mix it up maybe!
Emily: Yeah I thought I would!
Markus: Well that's cool!
(They glare at each other for a beat.)
Markus: Look. I'm. Sorry for being weird. It really looks great.
Emily: Thanks. Sorry for... surprising you?
Markus: I just wanna, I dunno, know what you're thinking sometimes. It seemed big and sudden to me. But maybe it's no big deal to you.
Emily: ... I guess I've been thinking about it or a while. It's been ages since I changed it. I actually let the black grow out while I was away and no-one could see, thinking I'd do something different when I got back, but I didn't decide what and still didn't like the brown so I just went back to normal immediately.
Markus: Wow, really!
Emily: And like, this is my window to do weird stuff with it, before I have to "look professional" as a doctor. I'd have done it earlier if school wasn't so strict.

Alt text: I remember when undercuts were so ~alternative and controversial and then like, a few years later my GP and half my parents' friends had one. This is also a fun thing about webcomic time lol; the story is gradually evolving into historical fiction
