Emily: Oh... that'll take a day or so, won't it... I... want some alone time, but come back tomorrow even if she doesn't reply immediately.
(Dee nods and then leaves with the letter.)
(Sometime later: Zoe, looming large in Emily's memory, is smiling and catching a football on the beach; Emily is lying worried in bed.)
(Sometime later again: Emily is playing a video game.)
Dee: Hey.
Emily: Hey! How'd it go?
Dee (holding out letter): She replied.

Alt text: Earth is 5-6ish light-hours away so even if Dee can carry a few pieces of paper stupidly fast it has to take longer than that each way. As an extra aside, Emily is just waking up and going to sleep whenever she feels like it rather than sticking to Earth time, and her days have trended an hour or so longer than normal.
