Emily: What? Oh, right. My birthday... ha, ha. Honestly, I didn't even think of that.
Dee: Oh good. It seems anything to do with me could come off as creepy, so... Just as long as you don't take it as a warning or anything.
Emily (moving within the tree to sit in the crook closer to Dee): Oh, as if I'd care. In fact, I'd appreciate a warning.
Dee: I don't think you would, though.
Emily: Sure I would. I'm not afraid of dying.
Dee: How do you know? You've never tried it.
Emily: Oh, ha ha. People are only scared of dying because they don't know what's going to happen.
Dee: Really? I thought it was more the loss of the most valuable thing you have.
Emily: Well, I - I guess that depends. What actually does happen?
Dee: ... Um, I'm still not telling.
Emily: Aw. But-
Dee: So anyway, have you got any other presents yet?
Emily: Only one. I'm going to get my ears pierced after school!
