Emily: Why should I give them a chance?
Dee: Because people aren't all horrible, Em.
Emily: I never said they were.
Dee: But you're scaring away the people who could easily be your very good friends! You're not taking the time to understand them, and you're not letting them understand you! You're shutting yourself off and forcing everyone to dislike or even hate you, and the more they do, the more you resent them in turn! It's a vicious cycle, and I promise you, Em, it's not doing you any good.
Emily: Since when are you such an expert?
Dee: I have eyes. They're hard to see, but they're there.
Emily: I have eyes too, and you're a hypocrite.
